THIS DAY TELLS ME:
UNHURRY: BREATHE:
I OBEY. In homage to Etta B. Ehrlich, Ph. D.
I breathe in, I breathe out,
aware of the still point,
the moment between my
inhalation and exhalation.
It’s a vacation for my brain
which is usually distracted
by the endless monkey
chatter on my mind.
All my concerns about
yesterday and tomorrow
vanish the second I return
to my ongoing breath which
is always there when I pay
attention to the rising and
falling of my belly to my one
and only breath. I can still hear

Etta’s mellifluous voice urging
me to sense the flow of my
breath moving through my lung
and inside the moisture of my nose
