MY MILLION DOLLAR KISS

My wife was in pain lying on a gurney
in an ER hallway for 2 very long days.
Tests were ordered with no diagnosis.
A resident waited for an attending Doc.
I waited by her side, massaging
her feet which was all I could do.
We left with a medical mystery
in our pocket no answers in sight.
As she struggled to stand on her feet
she planted a kiss on my lips I will never
forget.
It reminded me of our first kiss 70 years ago,
when our tongues met in a luminous darkness
and put an end to loneliness.
